  • Sericopelma rubronitens

Bit of a newbie question, but I know you good people won't let me down. Can anyone direct me to a care sheet for Sericopelma rubronitens.

I have looked at a few specialist sites and googled it, but no joy.

    Thanks in advance.

Keep similar to T. blondi, very easy spiders to keep and grow on.

        OK, another question

I have had my rubronitens for a week now and pretty much immediately, she made a burrow onder the shelter I had provided. This morning I noticed that she has pulled a (pretty large) mound of earth over the entrance to the burrow, effectively sealing herself in.

Is this normal behaviour or does it indicate any sort of problem?

Personaly I have never kept this particular species, but if a T seals its self in like that it could mean two things, It could be that its just been put into that tank and wants to hide and feel secure before coming out again, or it could be going into molt.

T's usualy try to hide them selves away somewere when they wanna molt in peace, but if its just been put in there I think its also usual for a T to just want a bit of alone time in its new home, one day you might walk in there and it'll be sat right out in the middle somewere happy as larry

I did wonder about the moult...

To be honest, I suspect the 'privacy' explanation makes a lot of sense, mine is quite a noisy house with three kids!

            Thanks.

I will, mate... just as soon as I can see her!

She's not come out for the past 3/4 days!

                  Thaks!
My question was not asked simply...
I wonder does it really the one which is very hard to distinguished from the B. vagans or something different...
                  All the best,

Well, I haven't kept any spiders for a long time, but I DID have B. Vagans a long time ago; the Runronitens does look very similar though (to my untrained eye!)

my B.vagans hid away under the bark and sealed herself in as soon as I got her I have had her a month and I have never seen her out I just poke pinheads in through a little hole and I take it she has eaten them the other day I lifted the bark up to put a drop of water in the corner because it was quite dry and put a pinhead down and she went straight for it so I take it shes alright
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

But why You have decied that it is definately Sericopelma, but not Brachypelma.
Does it WC and came with the locale data?

Well, simply because I bought it from a reputable store who sold it as a Sericopelma...

Though used for Beetles they can also be used to supplement the diet of Roaches, Millipedes and Livefoods.

I'm not sure what you mean in the last line, other than to say that it came with no information as such, although Lee was extremely helpful and gave some very good advice with respect to this species...

So, o.k., than if it's from Lee should be the real one.
But the pic is still eppreciated!

P.S. I meant that if You get em from the wild You should be provide withthe locality data of its distribution (the place which it was took from).
